Activity: CAD (Computer Aided Drafting/Design) and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Team Design Problem
Students Involved: 2nd year Technology Students
“Design Team” Assignment: Design, using CAD software, and build a working prototype of a “Wooden Bicycle” using design procedure methods and a CNC router as the primary production tool. Build all parts possible from wood, harvest the remaining parts from factory built bicycles.
Team Management/Organization Method: Working as a WORKCELL or POD, organize your team, recognizing team member background specialties (i.e. CAD, CNC experience, etc.) and make cell leadership assignments based on these background knowledge areas.
9 students comprised the Design Team. Several other students helped in the production phase of this project.
